Y6 John Muir Award - October 2017
Whilst the rest of our year group were at Arthog, we had our own outdoor adventure. We explored our local area with three Dothill Nature Reserve volunteers. We found evidence of how Dothill used to be years and years ago, including old pipe lines and the location of Dothill Manor.
Amongst other activities, we learnt how to map read and use a compass, we also measured the age of an old oak tree, which we estimated to be approximately 300 years old. We tested the water quality from Tee Lake, Beanhill Brook and a nearby stream. We were very surprised to discover how clean they all are. Today we went birdwatching and were astonished to spot a Kingfisher.
We would like to thank Mrs Mills, Andy, Keith and Mike for such a fun packed week, we’ve learnt so much.
