Learning and enjoyment is at the heart of all we do.
Dothill Primary School is a place where we provide a caring, vibrant and dynamic environment for all children and adults so as to support, encourage and enhance the development of the whole person and the achievement of full potential.
At Dothill we value:
We encourage our children to grow up to be happy, confident, creative, responsible, honest citizens who cooperate with others showing respect, kindness and fairness and enthusiastically achieve their potential.
We believe that all children have the right to the best possible start in life through a quality education in a safe, secure and happy learning environment where they are valued, nurtured and encouraged to be the very BEST that they can be!
At Dothill we have five simple expectations that ensure that our values are seen in practice:
We know that children learn best when they enjoy excellent teaching and positive relationships with those who teach them. Our team aims to ensure that pupils feel confident and happy to face exciting, high-level challenges without fear of failure.
We believe in the importance of widening children’s horizons. We are committed to helping the pupils of Dothill to learn about the rich diversity of local, national, European and global cultures and to develop a strong sense of values. One of the main aims of our curriculum, which is contextualized by rich and creative experiences, is to provide a foundation for a strong sense of personal awareness, social understanding and tolerance in our global citizens of the future.
Our aims for our pupils are for them all to:
be happy, fulfilled and proud of themselves and of their achievements
want to be successful and feel inspired by the success of others
take increasing responsibility for their own learning and behaviour
think creatively and imaginatively about how they can achieve their aims
have a secure understanding of how they fit into a democratic society,
how they can participate in and contribute to life in Britain and how they can value themselves as citizens
have time to reflect on their own beliefs, whilst respecting the beliefs of others
enjoy participating in the artistic, sporting and cultural opportunities that are available within and beyond our school
understand what is right and wrong, know how to make the right decisions and understand the consequences of their choices
understand and reflect on the “bigger picture” and the possible future contexts for their learning
have a thirst for learning, embrace challenge and have high aspirations
