Here are our Great Fire of London projects. The children have worked so hard on them and they looked amazing. It was so lovely to hear how they had remembered all of the facts we had learnt in class when talking about their projects but also how excited they were to tell us new facts that they had found out at home. Thank you very much for supporting the children to do these fab projects! :)
World Book Day
For World Book Day our author focus was Roald Dahl. The children looked amazing in their costumes and loved telling us about their books. All of KS1 had a parade in the hall to show off their costumes.
We had a very fun science investigation afternoon. We were investigating what water might do to different solutions. We explored using sand, jelly baff, magic snow and salt. As a class we planned the investigation and made our predictions for what we thought might happen. Then the children carried out each experiment. Some results didn't surprise us such as the sand and salt, but for some results the children were amazed! We had great fun exploring and investigating!
We had a fab day for glow day! We did some mindfulness colouring in the morning along with plenty of relaxation music and yoga. We then experimented with different textures. The children got to have a play with shaving foam, magic sand, bubble bath and water beads. They had so much fun creating all sorts of little models and exploring the different textures. We raised a lot of money for the school sensory room.
Look at our wonderful space projects. The children have worked so hard on them and learnt a lot! Thank you for supporting the children, they really enjoyed showing them off to their friends.
Thank you so much for bringing in the boxes. The children loved using different materials to create their own animal habitat!
As a treat for the final week of school before Christmas the children made their Christmas wish. We put on the snowman music so it was a nice calm atmosphere before we stirred in some magic bird seed (to help the reindeers fly) into some rolled oats (reindeers favourite food). The children used a wooden spoon to stir the mixture and make their wish. The children passed the bowl around the circle and waited for everybody to make their wish. It was a very special morning. Later on, we put the mixture into little bags to take home with their little Christmas rhyme. I do hope you all had a lovely time spreading the reindeer dust on your gardens on Christmas Eve! :)
Christmas Nativity 2018
The children did so well in their nativity and didn't they look amazing in their costumes!
Noah's Ark Project
As part of the Noah's Ark project, the children were given a piece of slate to paint a creature on from the nature reserve. We looked at particular insects and plants that are on the reserve. We then got to take part in putting the mural together with the volunteers of the Dothill nature reserve.
We had a great day for languages day! We took a trip to France. The children created their boarding tickets and then we set our chairs up on the carpet like an aeroplane. As we took off, we gazed out of the window and prepared for our short flight! When we landed in France, we felt so hungry so we stopped off at a little café for a croissant. The children loved trying these new pastries and even asked for more! After our food, we watched one of our favourite TV programmes; Spongebob square pants in French. We found it really interesting and even picked up a few words. We then went on to explore the Eifel tower. We had a look at different photographs before having a go at recreating it using art straws or building bricks. We had a lot of fun! We finished off by creating a poster of the different things you might see around Paris. What do you think of our drawings? :)
