Y6 Homework

Reading

Children are asked to read at home with an adult at least four times each week and parents are asked to write a signature with the dates in the Reading Record each week to confirm their child has read at least four times.

Maths

Children are asked to rehearse the times tables weekly using times tables rock stars. This includes 15 minutes practice in the Garage and 2 minutes in the Studio each week during term time as a minimum. The best way to complete this is 'little and often' throughout the week.

Topic Project

In addition to the weekly times tables and reading homework, children will be set a topic related project at the start of each half term. Children who choose to complete the project will have the opportunity to share this with the class.

This half term, we would like the children to complete a project based around our overarching topic ‘Our Developing Town’. With this topic being based around where we live, it is a wonderful opportunity for the children to get really creative and show their knowledge of the local area. They can come up with an idea of their own or could choose from one of the following ideas:

• Draw a map of somewhere local to the area using the correct map symbols.
• Create a 3D design of a famous place or structure in Telford or the surrounding area.
• Produce a PowerPoint persuading someone to move to Telford.
• Create a poster that highlights information about all the local wildlife.
